A background should sit behind the text, not in place of it. This paragraph lies on the tile at its true scale — if it reads without effort, the tile can go under content.
Radiating star-like rosettes in magenta, green and violet sit on a pale pink ground, their petals fringed with wavy filaments that blur into the surrounding blue lattice. The rosettes repeat in staggered rows across the page, with each row offset by half a step so the eye follows diagonal lanes of bloom.
