A background should sit behind the text, not in place of it. This paragraph lies on the tile at its true scale — if it reads without effort, the tile can go under content.
Interlocking medallions of olive-yellow, rose-red and charcoal sit on a grey ground, each built from a central octagonal rosette ringed by four clustered floral lobes and curving bands. Square-based cells repeat in a regular grid, with small star-shaped accents bridging the gaps between neighboring medallions.
