moiré 3 tiles

Shimmering, wavy bands that seem to move as you look at them — the effect you get from two layers of fine mesh or a screen photographed with a camera. Moiré tiles are strong op-art pieces; use them carefully behind text.

Two or more regular gratings — parallel lines, circles or grids — are overlaid with a slight rotation or difference in spacing. The places where their lines line up and where they fall out of step create large-scale bands that neither layer contains on its own.

Every tile on tilejar starts as a crop of a larger image, which is then mirrored with a wallpaper symmetry (pmm, p4m or p6m) so it repeats without seams. Download it as a PNG or open its recipe in the generator.
