contour lines 1 tile

Thin, nested lines winding around hills and valleys, just like the contour lines on a hiking map. With optional hillshading the terrain gains a sense of depth and relief.

A smoothed noise field is treated as a landscape, and lines are drawn wherever its height crosses evenly spaced levels. Hillshading lights the terrain from one side, darkening slopes that face away from the light, as cartographers do on relief maps.

Every tile on tilejar starts as a crop of a larger image, which is then mirrored with a wallpaper symmetry (pmm, p4m or p6m) so it repeats without seams. Download it as a PNG or open its recipe in the generator.
